Our Purpose

GSRA is a non-profit organization for State of Georgia Retirees.  Our purpose is to:

• Enhance and promote education and the welfare of the entire state government community relative to structure, funding, and use of retirement and health care benefits provided to retirees through state and federal laws.
  
  
• Advocate for the employee community of the State of Georgia and any subdivision of the State of Georgia who participate in health and/or retirement benefit plans administered by a State of Georgia department or subdivision.
  
  
• Provide educational opportunities including the exchange of information, ideas, knowledge and expertise in all matters affecting the well-being of the community, including but not limited to retirement and insurance benefits.
  
  

The two common interests that bind retirees of state government, local school systems, and the Board of Regents are pensions based on salary and length of service and health insurance.  GSRA’s primary goal is to watch over these promised benefits very closely.  Beyond that, the GSRA will work in other ways to assist its members.
